CART360 TANGIBLE MEDIA & PHYSICAL COMPUTING PROJECTSANIMATE
Project ANIMATE

The objective of this brief is to create an object that changes over time.

The same change can occur very quickly (milliseconds) or very slowly (many days) and thus bear very different meanings & create different experiences.

Change can be motive (rotation, translation, scaling, vibration, explosion, etc.).
Change can be audible.
Change can be thermal.
Change can be visual (color, brightness, etc.).
Change can be olfactive or gustative.

What is the story behind your object? Where does it come from? Why does it exist?

What is the personality of your object? Is it lonely? Would it vote for the NDP? How does its personality manifest itself in the physical world? What makes your object do what it does? Is the personality of your object related to its physical manifestation? Is it soft and sluggish? Is it spiky and edgy? Is it squishy and kinky? Or is your object more ambiguous? Is it cold yet friendly? Is it rough yet sophisticated? Is it loud yet introverted?

What emotions does your object evoke/provoke? Are they the same for everyone?

Finally, explain how/what Norman's object qualities (visceral, behavioral & reflective) apply to your animated object.
